About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated individual to join our International Settlements team as a Supervisor, based in our new Scotland office.
In this role, you will supervise a team of settlement professionals and take ownership of day-to-day operations across EMEA markets. You will lead operational delivery, oversee complex settlements, and ensure adherence to regulatory, control, and governance standards. This position combines team leadership, process ownership, and strategic oversight, providing a unique opportunity to influence the development and scaling of the settlements function in a new location while shaping its processes, culture, and performance.
Responsibilities
- Supervise day-to-day team operations across associates and senior associates, ensuring workload is appropriately allocated, priorities are clear, and service levels are consistently met.
- Provide first-line people leadership including coaching, real-time feedback, productivity oversight, quality reviews, and support with development plans for team members.
- Oversee the end-to-end settlement process across EMEA markets on a daily basis, ensuring trades are instructed, matched, funded, and settled accurately within market deadlines.
- Monitor daily risk and control checkpoints, including fails, unmatched trades, SSI validation, cash and position exceptions, and aged breaks, escalating material risks promptly.
- Act as the first escalation point for complex settlement issues, coordinating with custodians, counterparties, internal trading desks, and cash teams to drive timely resolution.
- Ensure adherence to SOPs, governance controls, and regulatory timelines, maintaining strong evidence of four-eye checks, sign-offs, and control completion.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying recurring manual touchpoints, control gaps, and process inefficiencies, while partnering with management on automation or redesign opportunities.
- Produce and review daily MIS, KPI, and exception reporting, providing visibility into volumes, fails, aged items, client issues, and team productivity, while partnering closely with internal stakeholders including trading, middle office, reconciliations, funding, and technology teams and supporting audit and governance activities through documentation, evidence tracking, SOP adherence, and action follow-up.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
