Supervisor Plus – Butlin's

The Supervisor Plus role at Butlin's presents an exciting opportunity. This individual will act as the primary point of contact for the team daily and is responsible for ensuring that departmental standards and compliance are maintained at the highest level.

Job Overview

Reporting to the Manager, the Supervisor Plus will:

  • Drive daily operational plans and ensure team members align with tasks, objectives, and department goals.
  • Focus on delivering consistent commercial performance and guest experience across fluctuating demand.
  • Primarily cover accommodation on intake days (Mondays and Fridays), while providing flexible support across other departments based on operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

All Supervisor Plus Accountabilities

  • Lead operational execution, ensuring objectives are met and guest experience remains exceptional.
  • Coach and support teams to deliver key targets, such as add-on sales, upselling, and promotions.
  • Conduct CAFF and departmental audits to maintain compliance and operational standards.
  • Champion food safety, stock availability, and quality control.
  • Monitor and act on guest feedback, including NPS, to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Develop and empower teams through coaching, training, and performance management.
  • Role-model Butlin’s Values and Leadership Behaviours while championing fair scheduling (RPRPRT).
  • Fostering a culture of open communication and cross-resort collaboration.
  • Oversighting the employee life cycle, including onboarding, PDPs, training, and HR processes.
  • Translating audits and observations into actionable improvements.

Departmental Focus Areas

Supervisor Plus – Buffets

  • Food Safety Champion: Enforce the highest hygiene and safety standards, ensuring compliance through training and audits.
  • Guest Experience: Create a welcoming and family-friendly atmosphere with personalised service.
  • Bay Replenishment & Quality: Maintain stock availability, food presentation, and guest satisfaction.
  • Team Coaching: Provide support, training, and feedback to improve service quality and operational efficiency.

Supervisor Plus – Bars & Shops

  • Coaching & Development: Drive sales, suggestive selling, and brand consistency across teams.
  • Sales Optimisation: Maximise spend per head via behaviours like upselling, B-Serve, and reducing queues.
  • Stock & Compliance: Improve stock control, meet operational standards, and ensure a clean, efficient retail environment.

Supervisor Plus – Restaurants & QSRs

  • Food Safety & Hygiene Lead: Enforce best practices while coaching teams on allergens, cleaning, and compliance.
  • Guest Dining Experience: Ensure warm, engaging, and problem-solving service.
  • Upselling & Revenue Growth: Promote starters, desserts, drinks, and add-ons for enhanced guest enjoyment.
  • Checkback & Feedback: Guarantee timely guest satisfaction checks and follow-up actions.

Supervisor Plus – Splash Pool

  • Oversee pool operations, safety, and guest services, including:
    • Ensuring health, safety, and lifeguarding compliance.
    • Training and managing pool staff.
    • Maintaining high cleanliness and presentation standards.

Supervisor Plus – Sports & Activities

  • Support the programme’s safe and engaging delivery, including:
    • Organising and supervising activities such as tournaments, fitness classes, and events.
    • Ensuring safety, risk assessments, and guest engagement.
    • Leading team recruitment, training, and performance management.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Audit compliance across accommodation and other departments.
  • Team training alignment and health, safety, and operational audits.
  • Guest NPS & feedback improvement.
  • Retail/Commercial success via upselling and stock management.
  • Optimising staffing to match demand ("Right People, Right Place, Right Time").

Requirements & Qualifications

Core Skills & Experience

  • Proven leadership abilities with an emphasis on coaching, mentoring, and standard-setting.
  • Strong attention to detail, audit adherence, and observational skills.
  • Guest-facing expertise in addressing queries, complaints, and feedback.
  • Experience in sales, promotions, and initiative development to drive revenue.
  • Adaptable in multi-skilled environments and assisting operations across departments.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in:
    • Performance management and coaching.
    • Team training, development, and consistency enforcement.
  • Excellent communication is essential; must engage effectively across all levels.
  • Ability to prioritise multiple demands and adapt quickly.

Department-Specific Requirements

Splash

  • NPQL Qualification (or equivalent).
  • Previous pool/swimming environment experience.
  • Strong pool safety knowledge.

Sports & Activities

  • Experience in fitness, leisure, or activity management.
