Position Overview: Supervisor, Security & Parking
Job Number: JR106224 Job Category: Management Location: Centenary Site (Scarborough Health Network) Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time Positions Available: 1 Hourly Rate: $46.876–$54.342 Schedule: Days, afternoons, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
Responsibilities
The Supervisor, Security & Parking directly reports to the Manager of Parking and Security and is responsible for the effective day-to-day supervision of all on-duty Security Guards. Your role includes:
- Advising, assisting, and directing wardens and guards in professional and constructive ways.
- Ensuring the delivery of high-quality, customer-focused security services in alignment with SHN’s mission, vision, and values.
- Professional and timely response to all calls for service and complaints, while maintaining accurate documentation.
- Supporting and identifying opportunities for proactive security programs, and developing strategies for current and evolving requirements.
- Enforcing departmental expectations through:
- Regular on-site presence
- Inspections and investigations
- Staff coaching and mentorship
- Supporting the Manager with procurement duties and operational processes.
- Serving as a deputy supervisor when the Manager is unavailable or workloads intensify.
- Incident response leadership: Lead responses to security incidents on shifts and coordinate follow-up, including debriefs.
- Maintain inventories, records, and security systems, reporting discrepancies to leadership.
- Perform regular security inspections, investigations, and accountability assessments.
- Participating in committees and collaborating with leaders from diverse disciplines.

Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of Security experience, specifically in a hospital environment.
- Minimum 2 years of Supervisory experience, within a unionized environment.
- Post-secondary diploma or degree from an accredited institution in Security or Policing.
- Valid Ontario Security Licence (licensing deems possession of knowledge of provincial/municipal legislation).
- Valid driver’s licence and regular access to a personal vehicle (travel may be required across hospital sites).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to document, correspond, and instruct staff professionally.
- Evolved technological competence in:
- Access control platforms
- CCTV systems
- Reporting software
- Excel applications
Knowledge and Skills
- Experience with operational and contractual relationships between external security providers and healthcare clients.
- Working knowledge of:
- Provincial and Municipal Security laws
- Healthcare Emergency Codes
- Emergency Management and Crime Prevention techniques
- Ability to train, instruct, mentor and coach new hires.
- Interpersonal skills and teamwork abilities.
- Orientated to structured, organized systems for practical record-keeping and processes.
- Experience alongside membership in security association(s) such as IAHSS or ASIS considered highly competitive.
Other Obligations
- Regular completion of a police and criminal background check (via VSC).
- Flexibility in scheduling for:
- Rotational on-call availability
- Assignment to morning, evening, and night shifts based on service demand
