Supervisor, Warehouse
Warehouse Supervisor Position – Leicester Site

About the Role
Site-based, full-time (37.5 hrs per week, Mon-Fri).
This Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for leading daily Warehouse Operations & Distribution, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant handling of inbound materials, internal movements, and outbound finished goods in line with site QMS requirements.
The role safeguards inventory integrity and traceability, optimises material flow and digital warehouse processes, and drives continuous improvement to support STERIS’ strategic pillars:

Through people leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and a proactive HSE culture, the Supervisor ensures reliable warehouse performance, underpinning customer satisfaction and site success.
Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Operations
- Provide strong leadership to the warehouse team, fostering a high-performance culture and deputising for the Warehouse Operations Manager as required.
- Lead and supervise daily warehouse operations, including:
- Efficient inbound processing
- Raw material flow management
- Accurate order picking for customer orders
- Timely despatch coordination
- Proactively manage warehouse capacity, using inventory control reports to optimise space, material flow, and production readiness.
- Oversee Hazardous materials handling, ensuring:
- Correct segregation, labelling, and compliance with regulations.
- Authorised HAZMAT carrier use and accurate documentation/packaging.

Quality, Efficiency & Compliance
- Own and drive warehouse KPIs, including:
- Accurate recording and performance reviews.
- Leading corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain tight inventory control (FIFO alignment) for:
- Raw materials
- WIP (Work-in-Progress)
- Finished goods
- Deliver exceptional accuracy in:
- Order picking
- Raw material receipts
- Digital tool utilisation to support *perfect order fulfilment.
Performance & Development
- Champion continuous improvement (CI), including:
- Idea generation and implementing measurable enhancements.
- Encouraging team involvement in process optimisation.
- Develop colleagues through:
- Training/coaching
- Performance feedback (aligned with STERIS’ GPS framework)
- Manage employee absence, ensuring:
- Proactive monitoring
- Early interventions
- Consistent policy application
- Succession planning and cross-training
T&C Compliance & Stakeholder Engagement
- Champion 6S workplace organisation, ensuring the warehouse and yard remain clean, safe, and organised.
- Ensure adherence to:
- Quality Management System (QMS)
- Internal procedures
- Represent the company as a leadership role model, embodying:
- Professionalism
- Integrity

Miscellaneous Duties
- Support broader Company strategy through collaborative problem solving.
- Perform reasonable additional duties aligned with skills/experience.

Requirements
Education
- Vocational/Technical qualification (desirable but not mandatory).
Experience
- 5+ years in warehousing and distribution (preferably in a fast-paced, high-volume environment).
- 2+ years’ supervisory/line management experience in a safety-critical role, including:
- Leading teams and developing people.
- Managing performance and feedback.
- Decisive problem-solving under pressure.
- 2+ years managing time-critical workloads, demonstrating:
- Organisational resilience.
- Effective decision-making.
Preferred Qualifications
- Forklift Truck (FLT) licences (Counterbalance/Reach). Training supported for eligible candidates.

Technical Proficiency
- Excel:
- Data analysis, KPI tracking, inventory reporting, and problem-solving.
- Microsoft Office: Strong operational use of Word and Outlook.

- Clear, professional communication (to teams and leadership).
