Warehouse Supervisor – Leicester Site

Position Summary
Site-based, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
The Warehouse Supervisor leads daily Warehouse Operations & Distribution, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant handling of inbound materials, internal movements, and outbound finished goods aligned with site QMS requirements.
The role protects the integrity and traceability of all inventories, optimises material flow and digital warehouse processes, and drives continuous improvement across key pillars:

Through leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and a proactive HSE culture, the Supervisor ensures reliable warehouse performance that supports customer satisfaction and success for the Leicester site.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Provide strong leadership to the warehouse team, fostering a high-performance culture and deputising for the Warehouse Operations Manager as needed.
- Develop and support colleagues through training, coaching, performance feedback, and structured career development (aligned with GPS framework).
- Manage employee absence proactively, ensuring early interventions, return-to-work processes, and consistent adherence to policy.
- Own talent succession planning and encourage cross-training to build team resilience.
Operations & Process Control
- Oversee daily warehouse operations, ensuring efficiency in:
- Inbound processing
- Raw material flow management
- Accurate customer order picking
- Timely despatches
- Lead and monitor warehouse KPIs, recording, reviewing, and driving corrective actions to improve performance.
- Maintain tight inventory control, ensuring alignment with FIFO and ERP requirements across raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
- Support perfect order fulfilment through rigorous process controls, verification checks, and digital tools for accuracy.
- Proactively manage warehouse capacity, using inventory reports to optimise space and adaptability to production changes.

Safety & Compliance
- Ensure safe, compliant handling of dangerous goods, including:
- Correct segregation and storage
- Accurate labelling
- Compliance with HAZMAT regulations
- Oversee compliant shipments of hazardous products, verifying carrier authorisations and validating shipping documentation, labelling, and packaging.
Continuous Improvement & Quality
- Champion 6S and workplace organisation, maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient warehouse environment.
- Lead CI (Continuous Improvement) initiatives, driving idea implementation, measurable benefits, and team participation.
- Ensure adherence to Quality Management System (QMS) and warehouse-specific quality requirements.
Strategic Support
- Act as a leadership role model, aligning conduct with STERIS values of professionalism, integrity, and collaboration.
- Support company strategy by embedding a solution-focused, cross-functional culture.
Miscellaneous
- Carry out additional reasonable duties aligning with skills, knowledge, and experience.

Requirements
Education
- Any degree or vocational/technical qualifications are welcome.
Essential Experience
- 5+ years’ experience in warehousing and distribution, preferably in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- 2+ years’ supervisory/line management experience, ideally in health/safety-critical environments with:
- Team leadership
- Performance management
- Structured feedback frameworks
- Strong ability to manage time-critical and high-priority workloads, demonstrating resilience and decision-making under pressure.
Desirable Qualifications
- Forklift Truck (FLT) licences (Counterbalance/Reach). Training supported for the right candidate.
Preferred Skills
- Advanced Microsoft Office (Excel) for data analysis, KPI tracking, inventory reporting, and problem-solving.
- Clear, professional written and oral communication (reports, team briefings, stakeholder discussions).
- Analytical and creative thinking to drive process optimisation and resolve operational challenges.
- Strong interpersonal skills for team collaboration and relationship-building across functions.
- Problem-solving capabilities rooted in structured, data-driven root-cause analysis.
- Ability to resolve conflicts constructively for fair, constructive outcomes.
