Great Western Camping is an independent specialist outdoor business in Dorchester, Dorset. We stock an extensive range of clothing and equipment for walkers, travelers, and climbers. Our brands include Berghaus, Black Diamond, Rab, Mountain Equipment, Keen, and much more. We also have those harder-to-find innovative brands like Salewa, Patagonia, Zamberlan, Dolomite, Petzl, and DMM. Great Western Camping was established in the 1980s, with current owners, Kirsty and Mark Evans, running the business for the past 25 years. GWC has twice been a winner of the Outdoor Industry Association's outdoor retailer of the year award.
Role Description
This is a full-time, Sales Supervisor role based in Dorchester. The Supervisor oversees daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures, and ensuring that merchandising and displays are maintained to company standards. The Supervisor works on the sales floor, assisting customers, resolving issues, and handling escalations as needed. Additional responsibilities include managing inventory, coordinating deliveries, maintaining health and safety compliance, and reporting operational updates to manager.

Essential skills
- Previous retail experience
- Ski enthusiast
- Strong customer service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, handle queries, and resolve issues professionally.
- Ability to organise workloads, prioritise tasks, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced setting.
- Interest in camping and outdoor activities.
- Willingness to learn product features and benefits.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work full-time on-site, including weekends or holidays as required.
- Good problem-solving skills and sound judgment when making operational decisions.
