Supplier IT Contract and Commercial Manager

Job Purpose

The Supplier IT Contract and Commercial Manager is a critical role within the Technology Supplier Management (TSM) team and is responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle management of multiple strategic and critical 3rd party contracts, whilst ensuring alignment to RM Technology goals and objectives. The role reports to the Head of Contract and Supplier Management and will develop and work within a team dedicated to providing a centre of excellence in contract, commercial and relationship management.

Location: London or Sheffield

In this role you will:

  • Relationship and contract management of strategic and critical suppliers, in line with best practice and in accordance with the RM Technology Supplier Management Policy
  • Support and develop supplier management strategy for suppliers in scope, in line with the RMG Technology sourcing strategy to deliver tangible benefits and value
  • Apply appropriate contractual and commercial management skills, tools and techniques in order to ensure the effectiveness of supplier contracts to meet and exceed contractual obligations, deliver value and minimize risk.
  • Act as an escalation point for Supplier related issues and own dispute resolution
  • Produce Exec Board level supplier performance reporting ensuring alignment and to inform decision making
  • Work closely with senior leaders across Technology, Business, Finance, Legal and Procurement to build, develop and govern supplier relationships
  • Take personal responsibility and accountability for suppliers within scope, acting as a subject matter authority and role model
  • Drive the development and implementation of supplier performance and relationship management procedures, best-practices and standards
  • Perform contract, commercial review and contract administration e.g. Change Control Notices, Change Requests and Work Packages
  • Support financial and budget planning, monitoring and forecasting working closely with the TSM Supplier Finance Manager for suppliers under management
  • Provide key commercial support for IT programmes where required
  • Work with the Head of Supplier and Contract Management and the TSM team in the production of Exec level supplier briefings and responding to wider stakeholder requirements
  • Where required, support and provide subject matter expertise for strategic and critical tenders, supplier negotiation(s) and evaluation
  • Line management of a Supplier Performance & Contract Manager whilst managing and coaching their professional development

Qualifications and experience required:

  • Full contract and commercial life-cycle contract and commercial management experience in Technology for large scale (£10m+pa) and complex strategic critical supplier relationships and contracts
  • In-depth knowledge of contract structures and terms ideally across one or more of the following technology categories; Application Development and Maintenance, Cloud and Hosting, Network, Telecoms and Workplace, End User Compute, IT Service Desk and Software
  • Ability to analyse, understand and enforce contractual obligations, whilst balancing out the need to maintain and grow a strong and value adding relationship with suppliers
  • Strong track record of driving tangible commercial benefits within the contract life-cycle
  • Exec level commercial and stakeholder management skills, and a consistent track record of building strong internal business and supplier relationships
  • Development and management of multiple strategic and critical supplier contracts and relationships
  • Strong commercial negotiation skills, being able to demonstrate experience of supporting, leading and managing negotiations for complex agreements
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills at a senior management / Exec level
  • Complex and high value dispute management
  • Supplier Management systems e.g. Ariba
  • Strong MS Office skills, particularly PowerPoint, Word and Excel
