Supplier Manager
Location: Melton, Hull, North Yorkshire
RS Safety Solutions, part of RS Group, is the UK’s leading supplier of PPE, safety, and hygiene products to the food manufacturing industry. With customers spanning all sizes across nearly every food sector, our success hinges on exceptional customer service, tailored supply chain management, and an extensive, competitively priced product list.
We’re undergoing exciting growth and are seeking an experienced Supplier Manager to join our team in Melton. As the Supplier Manager, you’ll develop and strengthen local supplier relationships across our UK&I (UK & Ireland) market. This is a critical role focused on nurturing partnerships to position our suppliers as the first choice for strategic category needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Supplier Relationship Development: Lead relationship-building with strategic suppliers, ensuring collaboration to become the preferred supplier for our defined categories.
- Sales Team Engagement: Actively collaborate with internal sales teams, with regular customer visits forming a key component of the role.
- Commercial & Strategic Pricing: Continuously review supplier pricing agreements, negotiate commercial terms, and secure price support for customers and opportunities.
- Growth & Profitability: Drive profitable growth by identifying cost-saving strategies, improving margins, and achieving sales targets.
- Category Strategy & Performance: Develop and implement category strategies aligned with business goals, targeting operational excellence and risk mitigation.
- Problem-Solving & Process Improvement: Act as an operational problem-solver, focusing on process optimisation and continuous performance enhancement.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work effectively across cross-functional and cross-cultural teams, including global input as part of a broader team.

Requirements
To excel in this role, you will demonstrate:
- A successful track record in supplier/account/category management within B2B or commercial business environments.
- Business planning and execution capabilities, with a history of delivering results.
- Strong ability to build and leverage strategic supplier relationships.
- Experience in cross-functional collaboration, including multicultural team settings.
- Deep understanding of and ability to articulate the RS Safety Solutions value proposition.
- Commercial acumen, pricing negotiation skills, and strong excellent communication and influence capabilities.
- A positive, solution-driven attitude with a focus on ownership, results orientation, and change management.
- Familiarity with marketing, purchasing, and inventory control methodologies.
- Proficient in Excel and data analysis tools, with an ability to analyse trends and opportunities.
