Supplier Quality Engineer

Location: UK (with regular travel to supplier sites across the UK)
Salary: Up to £55,000 + Benefits

Owen Daniels are supporting a leading Manufacturing business as an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to join a well-established, global engineering and manufacturing business. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about driving supplier performance, improving product quality, and working collaboratively with both internal teams and external suppliers.

This is a field-based role with regular travel to supplier locations throughout the UK, supporting supplier development, quality improvement initiatives, and ensuring products consistently meet the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to drive continuous quality improvement.
  • Conduct supplier audits, process assessments, and capability evaluations.
  • Investigate supplier quality issues using structured problem-solving techniques such as 8D, Root Cause Analysis, and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Monitor supplier performance through KPIs and quality metrics, implementing improvement plans where required.
  • Support new product introduction activities, including supplier qualification and PPAP/APQP processes where applicable.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Operations to resolve supplier-related quality concerns.
  • Review supplier documentation, inspection reports, and quality records to ensure compliance with relevant standards.
  • Lead supplier visits and provide technical support to improve manufacturing processes and product quality.
  • Assist with internal and external quality initiatives while ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 and other applicable quality standards.

About You

  • Previous experience in a Supplier Quality Engineer, Quality Engineer, Supplier Development Engineer, or similar role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Strong understanding of quality management systems and supplier quality processes.
  • Experience conducting supplier audits and managing supplier performance.
  • Knowledge of quality tools including 8D, FMEA, SPC, Root Cause Analysis, PPAP, and APQP would be advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple supplier relationships.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly across the UK.
