Urgently needed Supplier Quality Engineer
Position: Supplier Quality Engineer
Location: Darlington (Hybrid with minimal on-site presence)
Contract: Until December (extension possible)
Role Purpose
The Supplier Quality Engineer will play a central role in strengthening the VPI Supplier Quality function. The position focuses on developing suppliers, ensuring robust manufacturing processes, and delivering zero-defect components into the business. You will work closely with suppliers, engineering, purchasing, and manufacturing teams to ensure quality expectations are met throughout the product lifecycle. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment and can balance structured quality processes with practical problem-solving.

Key Deliverables
- Effective supplier engagement and cross-functional collaboration.
- Full APQP lifecycle management and monthly reporting.
- Source Release creation, monitoring, and approval coordination.
- On-site build issue investigation, containment, and resolution.
- FIRG leadership, root cause analysis, and RV&S closure.
- Supplier audits, readiness assessments, and quality improvement actions.
- Management of medium-ZDM components with SQEs.
Candidate Profile
- Engineering qualification (degree/HNC/HND or equivalent).
- Proven SQE background (3–5 years ideal).
- Strong understanding of APQP, PPAP, lean, six-sigma, and supplier development.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
- Willingness to travel to UK/EU supplier sites when required.

The successful candidate will be expected to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, often across different suppliers and programs. Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain clear documentation are essential. The position offers exposure to a wide range of manufacturing processes and supplier technologies, making it an excellent opportunity for an SQE looking to broaden their technical experience within a global engineering environment.
