Supplier Quality Engineer
Department: Quality
Location: Windlesham
Description
At Gordon Murray Group, every performance car is the result of uncompromising engineering and equally uncompromising quality. Our standards don’t stop at the factory door, they run throughout our global supply chain. That’s where you come in.
We are seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to play a critical role across the full product lifecycle, from early concept through to production and service life. Working closely with engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers, you will ensure components are developed, approved, and delivered to the quality level expected of a world-class performance vehicle. This is more than supplier monitoring, it’s partnership, technical leadership, and continuous improvement.
The Role
You will act as the quality authority for supplied components, supporting supplier development, driving approvals, and ensuring robust processes are in place before parts ever reach a vehicle. You’ll spend time both onsite and with suppliers, proactively preventing issues rather than reacting to them.
This is your chance to:
- Lead supplier quality activities from concept to production and service life.
- Work with suppliers on manufacturability and delivery to cost, quality, and timing targets.
- Define and manage critical and significant characteristics within supplier processes.
- Support and approve PPAP and review FAIR documentation prior to shipment.
- Develop and manage Part Quality Plans (PQP) alongside engineering teams.
- Conduct supplier audits and capability assessments to ISO9001 / IATF16949 standards.
- Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions using 8D and SCAR methodologies.
- Support and sign-off engineering change management activities.
- Monitor and report supplier KPIs including PPM performance.
- Ensure supplier concerns are resolved in agreed timescales to maintain build.
- Act as the on-site quality presence at suppliers when required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
