Supply Chain Assistant
Are you looking to build your career within supply chain and logistics? We are recruiting a Supply Chain Assistant to join a well-established manufacturing business based near Witham, Essex.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in logistics, supply chain, customer service, or administration to join a busy and supportive team. You will play a key role in ensuring products move efficiently through the supply chain, supporting transport operations, inventory planning, customer deliveries, and supplier coordination.
The Role - Supply Chain Assistant
As a Supply Chain Assistant, you will support the day-to-day operation of the supply chain function, working closely with Planning, Customer Service, Warehousing, and Logistics teams. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, you will help coordinate shipments, maintain key supply chain data, support inventory management, and assist with continuous improvement activities.
Please note this role is full-time and office-based, five days per week. A hybrid working pattern is not available.
Key Responsibilities
- Review customer orders and assist with shipment planning and scheduling
- Liaise with Customer Service, Planning, Warehouse, and Logistics teams to ensure timely deliveries
- Maintain and update supply chain reports, spreadsheets, and operational data
- Support the creation of loading plans and inventory picks to maximise efficiency
- Obtain transport and freight quotations from logistics providers
- Monitor deliveries and communicate updates to internal stakeholders and customers
- Assist with export documentation and shipping administration where required
- Support supplier and third-party logistics performance monitoring
- Produce KPI reports and help identify opportunities for process improvements
- Provide general administrative support across the wider supply chain function

What We're Looking For
To be considered for the Supply Chain Assistant position, you will ideally have:
- Previous experience within a supply chain, logistics, planning, customer service, or administrative role
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to build positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Good IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- High attention to detail and strong data accuracy
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
- A willingness to learn and develop within a supply chain environment
- GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent)

Previous exposure to freight, export documentation, ERP systems, or supply chain processes would be advantageous but is not essential. Please note that due to the location of our client, you must be able to drive, as public transport links are limited.
