Supply Chain Compliance Officer

Supply Chain Compliance Officer (Trade & Customs)

Location: Central London / Hybrid Sector: Food, Feed & FMCG Ingredients

About the Role

katalyst are partnering with an international leader in food, nutrition, and life science ingredients. As the "internal customs and trade expert", this role ensures all imported and exported products are correctly labelled, taxed, and documented, minimising border delays and compliance risks.

About the Business

The company is a global player operating across the UK, Europe, the US, and Asia. This position is critical for stabilising shipments to the world’s largest food and FMCG brands while driving process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance & Risk Mitigation

  • Act as the global Trade & Customs subject matter expert for supply chain and operations teams.
  • Manage ERP system product approval frameworks**, ensuring correct HS/commodity classification, tariffs, and customs duty implementation.

Problem Resolution & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Serve as the primary escalation point for customs, port health, and border delays.
  • Partner with Global Operations, Commercial, and International Sites to resolve compliance issues.

Regulatory Intelligence & Advisory

  • Proactively monitor UK/EU trade policy changes, including:
    • Anti-dumping duties
    • Licensing & quotas
    • Tariff classifications (BTI/ATR)
  • Translate complex regulatory updates into operational recommendations for Product Managers.

Process & Knowledge Management

  • Work with Quality, Logistics, and Supply Chain teams to refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Create internal training materials and guide wider business units on compliance.

Recommended Experience & Skills

  • 5+ years in trade compliance or customs, with strong bilingual/multilingual (Urdu, Punjabi and English) skills beneficial.
  • Preferred sectors: Food, Feed, Chemicals, or Personal Care/Cosmetics (due to Port Health complexities).
  • In-depth knowledge of:
    • International customs procedures
    • Dangerous goods transport laws
    • Country-of-origin rules & tariff duties
  • Stakeholder influence required for cross-functional training and decision-making.
