Job Title: Supply Chain/Category Manager
Reporting To: Senior Supply Chain Manager
About the Role
SSE’s core purpose is to provide reliable and sustainable energy to society. This opportunity exists within the Networks Transmission business, specifically within the Transmission P&C function, to deliver procurement and supply chain solutions across major projects.
As the Supply Chain/Category Manager, you’ll focus on advancing procurement strategies, contracts, and equipment visibility for substation equipment, a critical asset across Transmission portfolios.

Responsibilities
- Stakeholder Coordination
- Own and manage the Substation Equipment category, ensuring demand requirements align with group-wide procurement strategies.
- Serve as the primary liaison between Transmission stakeholders and Category Management teams, consolidating supply chain data and updates.
- Data & Oversight
- Provide end-to-end supply chain visibility across complex equipment pipelines, delivering accurate, timely status reports internally and externally.
- Embed Transmission procurement strategies into group-wide category plans, ensuring alignment.
- Contract & Tendering
- Lead complex tendering processes (collating docs, managing submissions, negotiating terms) and recommend contracts for award.
- Draft, administer, and review NEC Form contract terms.
- Process Excellence
- Drive sustainable cost efficiencies and value-maximising supplier relationships.
- Utilise commercial acumen and negotiation skills across high-stakes frameworks/projects.

Requirements

Qualifications
- Degree in Procurement (e.g., CIPS) or Quantity Surveying.
- Mحوרחics (MRICS) / MCIPS (desirable) or equivalent professional qualification.

Experience
- Proven track record managing supply chain strategies, framework agreements, and project contracts (regulated sector preferred but not required).
- Strong background in commercial procurement processes (strategy development, NEC contract management, negotiation).
- Demonstrated ability to deliver large-scale frameworks with clear commercial outcomes.
