Supply Chain Manager – Oil & Gas / Renewables (Geo-services)

Location: Aberdeen Employer: UTEC, Acteon’s Geo-services business line

About the Role

UTEC Geo-services leverages data to optimise project designs, reduce costs, and enhance value for customers across the onshore and offshore energy sector by providing a comprehensive understanding of the marine environment. Their insights drive decision-making from initial design through to asset life extension, ensuring every project delivers efficient outcomes.

This Supply Chain Manager role oversees the end-to-end supply chain operations—supporting onshore and offshore project execution—while managing Procurement and Logistics across the Europe-Africa region, with flexability for global projects as needed. Located in Aberdeen, the position focuses on optimising procurement, logistics, mobilisation, and lifecycle management of survey equipment and specialist services within the oil & gas and renewables industries.

Strong collaboration with project teams, vessel operations, engineering partners, and suppliers is critical to ensuring safe, timely, and cost-effective project delivery.


Key Responsibilities

Supply Chain & Procurement

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies for geotechnical survey equipment and third-party services
  • Manage end-to-end procurement activities, including:
    • Issuing and evaluating Request for Quotations (RFQs)
    • Conducting tender evaluations and contract negotiations
    • Facilitating supplier onboarding
  • Ensure adherence to industry standards, client specifications, and company procurement policies
  • Drive cost efficiencies while maintaining quality, reliability, and operational performance

Project Support & Mobilisation

  • Work closely with project managers to support both onshore and offshore geotechnical surveys
  • Plan and coordinate mobilisation/demobilisation of specialist survey equipment, prioritising timeliness within the Europe-Africa region or extended international projects
  • Ensure equipment and key materials are timeously delivered in line with project schedules, including vessel mobilisation deadlines

Logistics & Inventory Management

  • Oversee logistics operations, including:
    • Domestic and international shipping
    • Freight forwarding
    • Customs documentation
    • Vessel loading coordination
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels for key survey equipment, spare parts, and consumables
  • Coordinate with warehouses, warehousing staff, and freight forwarders when applicable

Supplier & Contract Management

  • Build and cultivate strategic relationships with:
    • Marine contractors
    • Drilling and survey service providers
    • Equipment manufacturers
  • Monitor supplier performance through KPIs (cost control, quality, delivery reliability, and safety)
  • Negotiate and administer framework agreements and long-term contracts
  • Ensure compliance with HSE, sustainability, and regulatory standards for all suppliers

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Alignment with all project compliance requirements, including offshore regulations, Health & Safety (HSE), and quality standards
  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks with actionable strategy
  • Support audits, inspections, and record-keeping to ensure transparency and documentation

Team Leadership

  • Lead and mentor the Procurement & Logistics team, including buyers, logistics coordinators, and warehouse handlers
  • driving continuous improvement in processes, efficiency, and safety
  • Champion digitalisation efforts within supply chain systems, including ERP tools (e.g., SAP) and real-time tracking

Requirements

Essential

  • Proven experience (5+ years) in supply chain or procurement, ideallyspecialising in offshore, oil & gas, marine, or geotechnical industries
  • Strong understanding of offshore logistics, including vessel operations and geotechnical equipment mobilisation
  • Hands-on experience in project-based supply chains, particularly within time-sensitive, high-stakes environments
  • Commercial acumen with expertise in negotiation, contract lifecycle management, and cost optimisation
  • Familiarity with the UK offshore supply chain, geotechnical services panorama, and supplier networks
  • Demonstrated ability to stakeholder management, communication, and cross-functional leadership

Desirable

  • Direct experience supporting offshore wind farm surveys or oil & gas site investigations
  • Technical knowledge of geotechnical survey equipment and instrumentation
  • CIPS certification or a procurement/stock management qualification
  • Proficiency in ERP software:
    • SAP
    • Oracle
    • related project/asset tracking applications
