Warehouse & Picking Operations Manager
Scope of Role
Coordinate day-to-day operational activities across each shift to ensure requirements are met efficiently, on time, and cost-effectively—covering raw material and finished goods inventories. Lead warehouse, picking, and goods-in teams to deliver safe, compliant, and high-performing operations.
Key Areas of Responsibility
(Note: This list is not exhaustive and may be adapted in response to changing business needs.)
- Coordinate daily operational activities across shifts/sites to meet efficiency, service, and cost targets.
- Lead warehouse, picking, and goods-in teams by demonstrating:
- A safe and food-safe culture through adherence to Quality Systems and Procedures.
- Proper use of PPE and equipment.
- Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Support training and compliance with Standard Operating Procedures.
- Ensure correct operation of MHE (Material Handling Equipment).
- Promote a Clean-As-You-Go culture across warehouses, canopies, yard, and back door control (BDC) areas.
- Drive a Right-First-Time (RFT) culture and continuous improvement:
- Investigate and address root causes of failures, non-conformances, and customer complaints.
- Maintain stock accuracy, rotation, and care to:
- Reduce damage and shortages.
- Improve picking accuracy.
- Minimise write-offs.
- Escalate people and equipment issues to the Logistics Manager as required.
- Manage absence and behaviour in line with company policies, liaising with HR when necessary.
- Report accidents, incidents, and near misses promptly and accurately.
- Conduct clear and structured shift handovers.
- Support efficiency improvement projects for warehouse and picking operations.

Essential Requirements
- Demonstrated commitment to high standards of safety and quality, with attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure while meeting tight delivery deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Confidence in interacting with colleagues across all teams.
- Willingness to work independently and use initiative to achieve results.
- Adaptability to new approaches and ability to lead by example within a shift-based team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills—clear and concise.
- Team player who supports and guides coworkers.

Key Competences
Essential
- Numeracy skills with ability to communicate findings verbally and in writing.
- Warehouse and order picking experience.
- MHE certifications/qualifications.
- Team leadership or team coordination experience.
- Self-motivation and self-awareness.
- Teamwork.

- Managing for results (goal-oriented leadership).
- Problem-solving skills.
- Positive influencing (ability to persuade and inspire).
- Proven ability to diagnose and resolve operational issues.
