Sheffield Forgemasters is an iconic steel production and engineering company. A global leader in the designing, manufacturing and delivering of world-class steel forgings and castings.
It is a great time to join Forgemasters, as the business goes through an ongoing period of growth and modernisation after being acquired by the UK Ministry of Defence In 2021. The acquisition has secured our role as a critical supplier to the next generation of UK defence programmes. As part of this programme of work our plant and equipment will be modernised over the next 10 years, creating new opportunities for the business and our colleagues.
Based at our 64-acre site, sitting in the heart of Sheffield, we are looking for a Supply Planner. This role will involve predicting supply requirements and forming a strategy, with targets, to ensure customer requirements are met.

- Work with Operations to determine the base capability of the facility.
- Determine the range, scope and timing of all potential supply levers (routes to expand/contract capacity/capability).
- Assess financial impact of forecast and performance to budget.
- Incorporate business intelligence and data analysis to improve operations capability accuracy.
- Create and manage recovery plans for key supply variances.
- Maintain the outsource approved supplier database.
- Monitor the current order book progress, WIP profiles and delivery performance to understand impacts on supply.
- Create and manage supply planning scenarios to assess risk and sensitivity.
- Create and manage baseline plan & scenario models to optimise and balance business objectives, cost to serve and customer delivery.
- Monitor and analyse forecast variance and a range of other KPI’s.
- Create and manage supply / operations performance dashboard and reports.
- Identify and implement process improvements.
- Support the delivery of the overall planning process.

About You
The following relevant skills, knowledge and experience are required.
- Experience working in a similar role.
- Experience of planning systems and technology (including ERP).
- Analytical and presentation skills.
- Detail oriented.
- Ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders and as part of a team.
- Experience of Manufacturing Planning Processes.
- Ability to communicate in a brief and clearly expressed manner with employees from all levels of the business.
Days/Hours of Work
37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday, with flexible start and finish time between 06:15 - 09:30 and 14:30 – 18:00
