Support Driver
Support Driver – Kendal
Department: ENW Location: Kendal
Description As a Support Driver, you will be responsible for driving and operating a drop-side van. Your duties will include:
- Loading and delivering materials to work sites
- Collecting barriers, cones, and fittings upon project completion
- Conducting jet washes
- Travelling to local depots, suppliers, and builders’ merchants
- Working unsociable hours to support operations during emergencies
The role may involve lifting and carrying weights up to 25kg, so a strong ability to work safely is essential. Good knowledge of site safety and the ability to work collaboratively with both team members and the public will be highly valued.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a thorough understanding of site safety and ensure adherence to best practices, protecting both employees and the public
- Demonstrate experience in driving and towing plant efficiently and safely
- Adhere strictly to safe working methods for all tasks
- Provide essential support for site establishment and site clearance
- Ensure strict security, cleanliness, and proper maintenance of company vehicles, equipment, and plant
- Foster excellent customer and client relations for the long-term benefit of the company
- Complete all necessary documentation accurately in line with company and contract requirements
- Ensure full compliance with all statutory obligations and regulations
- Conduct all driving activities with safety and professionalism, reflecting well on the company
- Report any safety issues promptly following company procedures
- Utilise the GARD (smartphone-based feedback system) to deliver commercial and reinstatement feedback as needed
- Collaborate closely with Support Services and Streetworks Teams to ensure proper management of FPN and Section 74 liabilities, prioritising a right-first-time approach

Experience and Qualifications
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
- Full towing licence (essential)
- Completion of NRSWA Unit 2 (essential)
