At present, University Hospitals of North Midlands is unable to offer visa sponsorship for Band 2 to Band 4 roles, as these positions do not meet the minimum salary and skill thresholds required under UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) regulations.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will be required to support in the delivery of a comprehensive administrative service. This will involve inpatient and outpatient waiting list management for a specialty, Medical secretary to Cardiothoracic consultants, in accordance with the Patient Access Policy, communicating appointments and admission related information to patients and carers, and typing correspondence within performance targets as appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
- Based at a UHNM site
- Allocated a Consultant(s)
- Support for the MDT Coordinator
- Support the Team Leader Medical Secretary in the delivery of a comprehensive administrative service to a specialty team
- Management for, communicating appointment and admission related information to patients and carers, and/or typing correspondence as appropriate
Duties
This role is a medical secretary role and includes all office duties, typing letters, clinic alterations, answering telephone calls, using software packages such as Microsoft, Careflow, IPortal, along with other office-based duties. This is not an exhaustive list of roles and responsibilities.

Ideal Candidate
We are looking to appoint a Medical Secretary/MDT Coordinator to join the Diabetes and Endocrinology Secretarial team. You will have experience of administration duties and dealing with members of the public.
Skills and Experience Required
- Excellent communication skills
- Outstanding empathy and compassion
- Able to use their own initiative
- Organisational Skills
- Experience of UHNM hospital systems e.g. Careflow, e-referrals, iportal
- Experience of Microsoft Office packages
- Clinical typing experience
- Understanding of clinics and appointments
