An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Support Medical Secretary to work within the Medicine division based at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford.
The post holder will join a team of Medical Secretaries who organise the workload of the Consultants within the department and ensure that an efficient service is provided.
You should already possess 4 GCSE's (grades 9 - 4 or C - A*) or equivalent, RSA stage 3 typing, word processing (or have equivalent experience). The ability to plan and prioritise a varied workload is essential, as are good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a variety of staff groups at all levels.
This post is a 12-month fixed term position, 18.5 hours per week
The post holder will produce accurate clinical and general correspondence, regularly using complex and sensitive medical terminology from audio transcription.
They will also be required to respond to telephone calls from anxious and distressed patients, responding appropriately to contentious, sensitive, and difficult enquiries.

The successful applicant will gain valuable experience in the day-to-day management of a busy Medical Secretaries office.
The successful applicant will join a busy team comprising of Higher Level Medical Secretaries and Support Medical Secretaries. The post holder is pivotal in the patient’s relationship with the hospital, the clinical team, and the Consultants. The team support each other to organise the workload of the Consultants within the department and ensure that an efficient service is provided.
