Roles & Responsibilities
As a Support Mentor in an Alternative Provision setting, you will play a vital role in guiding students who require tailored educational and emotional pathways. Your responsibilities include:

- Working closely with session leaders to deliver impactful learning activities, ensuring resources are accessible and tailored to individual student needs.
- Acting as a trusted, positive role model, offering a safe space where students can talk, share concerns, and feel heard.
- Implementing trauma-informed and positive behaviour support strategies to help students navigate stress, anxiety, or frustration in real-time.
- Keeping students motivated and focused on their tasks using creative, personalised encouragement and a high level of resilience.
- Helping young people close learning gaps while simultaneously building essential life skills, teamwork, and social confidence.

What You’ll Need
To become a Support Mentor with Flexzo Teach, you must have:
- Previous mentor experience, youth work experience, or a strong relevant background supporting young people with complex needs (e.g., SEMH, SEND).
- The Right to Work in the UK.
- An enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or a willingness to obtain one).
- A Level 3 qualification, relevant youth work/mentoring certifications, or equivalent hands-on experience in an educational or care setting.
