Temporary Support Officer (Part-Time)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Temporary Support Officer to join our client’s team, providing person-centred support to older people, vulnerable adults, and individuals needing extra assistance to live independently.


About the Role

This is a rewarding and varied role where no two days are the same. You will work closely with customers to help them:

  • Build confidence
  • Maintain independence
  • Access the right support services

Your work may involve:

  • Assisting individuals in moving into more suitable accommodation
  • Supporting people during difficult times
  • Being a consistent, trusted point of contact

You will collaborate with:

  • Health professionals
  • Social care teams
  • Housing services
  • Other partner organisations

To ensure customers receive holistic and effective support, you will also:

  • Promote wellbeing, safeguarding, and inclusion
  • Foster safe, welcoming environments

Location & Hours

  • Location: Goldthorpe, Barnsley
  • Hours: 18.5 hours per week
  • Timings:
    • Tuesday–Thursday: 10:00 AM–2:30 PM
    • Friday: 9:30 AM–2:30 PM
  • Salary:
    • £13,755 per annum (pro rata) / £14.30 per hour (FTE: £27,510)

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide person-centred support tailored to individual needs and goals
  • Support vulnerable adults, older people, and those facing housing challenges
  • Complete and review:
    • Support plans
    • Risk assessments
    • Case notes
  • Respond to crisis situations with empathy and professionalism
  • Work closely with external agencies and partner organisations
  • Help customers maintain independence and improve well-being
  • Promote safeguarding, safety, and inclusion at all times
  • Maintain accurate records and reporting systems

About You

To thrive in this role, you should have:

  • Experience in a customer-facing support role
  • A compassionate, patient, and person-centred approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • An understanding of safeguarding and supporting vulnerable people
  • The ability to manage challenging situations calmly and professionally
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Comfort working independently and as part of a team
