Support Worker
Support Worker – Fixed Term Contract (9 Months)
Location: Newmarket, Suffolk Salary: £13.30 per hour Contract Type: Full-time, fixed term
About the Role
Thera East is seeking enthusiastic Support Workers to join our inclusive team, supporting adults with learning disabilities. This Support Worker role is perfect for those looking to start a new career in Social Care, gain valuable experience, or build on previous expertise in a collaborative, forward-thinking environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
Your work will have a direct, positive impact on the lives of individuals with learning disabilities. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Supporting people to develop new skills, reach personal goals, and live by their own choices.
- Providing personal, emotional, and practical support in day-to-day tasks.
- Assisting with home management, leisure activities, travel, employment opportunities, or individual interests.
- Tailoring support to each person’s unique needs, making every role dynamic and varied.
- Working both independently and in the community—whether in a person’s home or out in their local surroundings.

Who You Are (What We’re Looking For)
This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone passionate about making a difference without formal prior experience. Full training will be provided, and mentorship is a priority.
Key personal attributes:
- Compassionate, caring, and confident—with a drive to empower individuals.
- Strong communication skills—both in writing and verbally; you should be articulate and professional.
- A self-starter with high motivation, flexibly adapting to new challenges.
- Willingness to work alone, manage lone working requirements, and provide support to individuals with mental health needs.
- No essential previous experience or qualifications needed; willingness to learn and embrace a fast-paced environment.
