About Community Integrated Care

Community Integrated Care is one of the UK’s largest health and social care charities. We transform lives by delivering high-quality, person-centred support that fosters independence and empowerment.

Our charity was founded in 1988, and we were one of the pioneers of the ‘Care in the Community’ agenda, enabling people to move out of long-stay institutions and live more fulfilling lives.

Since then, we’ve remained leaders in social care, providing bespoke support to thousands across the UK. Today, we support more than 2,600 people and employ 6,600 caring and committed colleagues across England and Scotland.

We have a proud history of breaking boundaries and are always looking for new ways to make a positive difference through bold ideas, innovative projects and impactful partnerships.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

As a multi-award winning charity we ensure our colleagues and the people we support live the best lives possible. In 2025, we launched our new strategy - Best Lives, Bolder. Find our more - click here.

The people we support have a mix of medical conditions and complex needs, including ADHD, Epilepsy, Autism, and learning disabilities. We take the time to understand each person as an individual, making sure they get the right support to stay safe, healthy, and happy. Being active in the community has really helped everyone grow in confidence, make new friends, and enjoy life more.

We’re proud of how far we’ve come and excited to keep building our independence and life skills.

When it comes to getting around, we usually travel by car, but we’re also happy to use the bus or a taxi.

At first, we might seem a bit complex, but once we feel comfortable, we really enjoy meeting new people—just at our own pace. We’re cheerful, active, and full of personality. We love going out, but we also enjoy some quiet downtime in our bungalow when we need it.

What You'll Be Doing

We love getting out and about! Walks in the park, nature trails, and visits to sensory rooms are some of our favourite things to do—they help us relax, have fun, and stay active. We enjoy going shopping, especially when we get to pick out our favourite snacks. We also like joining in with local events around Wigan whenever we can.

Our shift patterns vary and sometimes we have two members of staff on at a time.

What We're Looking For

We know it takes a special person to work in social care and we recognise that not everyone that would be perfect for the role, will have professional experience.

This is why we're really passionate about recruiting to individuals’ values and we recruit people from all walks of life; From people with vast experience in a support worker or care assistant role, from people with lived experiences who may have friends or relatives with disabilities or have looked after older relatives, to people with no experience at all.
