Support Worker : Children?s Residential Care

Support Worker – Childrens’ Residential Care Provider

An opportunity has arisen for a Support Worker to join a well:established children’s residential care provider, delivering high-quality support to children and young people.


As a Support Worker, you will be supporting children and young people in a residential setting to promote:

  • Safety
  • Independence
  • Emotional wellbeing
  • Positive daily living skills

This role offers a minimum salary of £29,000 and benefits.


About the Role

You will be responsible for:

  • Supporting children and young people in daily routines and personal development
  • Involving children in their care, respecting their choices, needs, and wishes
  • Understanding each child’s background, reflecting on practice, and maintaining positive professional relationships
  • Maintaining strict confidentiality at all times
  • Building professional, person-centred relationships as a Key Worker
  • Supporting daily living needs, including:
    • Hygiene, appearance, and personal care
    • Guidance on healthy nutrition choices
    • Medication administration (per policy)
    • Attending appointments
    • Reporting health, safety, or welfare concerns
    • Encouraging participation in:
      • Activities
      • Leisure
      • Trips and holidays
    • Following behaviour support plans and risk assessments
    • Accurate record keeping and reporting

Requirements

We are seeking candidates with:

  • Previous experience as:

    • Residential Support Worker
    • Support Worker
    • Keyworker
    • Residential Childcare Worker
    • Childrens’ Support Worker
    • Therapeutic Care Practitioner
    • Support Practitioner
    • Childrens’ Care Worker
    • Childrens’ Care Assistant
    • Care Assistant
    • Childcare Worker
    • or in a similar role
  • Experience working with children and young people in care, residential, or support settings

  • A relevant health and social care qualification (or willingness to work towards one)

  • An understanding of:

    • Children’s development
    • Trauma, and the impact of adverse experiences (helpful but not mandatory)
  • Awareness of safeguarding practices and a commitment to child protection

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport
