Support Worker – Elva Court Accommodation Service
About the Role

Elva Court provides compassionate, person-centred support for individuals experiencing complex mental health issues. We tailor our services—covering mental wellbeing, physical wellbeing, spiritual wellbeing, and daily living skills—to empower independence and self-fulfilment.
Each of our 13 service users has their own flat, and we collaborate closely with them to shape their care and journey toward more independent living. The team is experienced, supportive, and passionate about encouraging recovery, fostering feedback, and giving residents meaningful input into their support.
While on-site 24/7 (including overnight sleep-ins), staff receive additional allowances. Successful applicants benefit from:

We seek someone with a genuine empathy for recovery and hands-on experience (or lived experience) supporting individuals with mental health challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Relationship Building: Build and maintain trust-based partnerships with service users to drive engagement.
- Goal Setting & Support:
- Help set priorities and achievements, including tenancy management and onward moves.
- Work flexibly in service users’ homes or the community.
- Assessment & Collaboration:
- Conduct assessments and determine urgency of needs.
- Liaise with external agencies and referrals for wider support.
- Attend placement reviews with residents and colleagues.
- Independent & Group Work:
- 1:1 mentorship and group activities to promote social and functional living skills.
- Accompany service users to appointments (e.g., GP, therapies, benefits).
- Personal & Domestic Support:
- Assist with financial matters (benefits, education support).
- Help manage friendships, family dynamics, and medication adherence.
- Guide in cooking, light cleaning, and household tasks (with infection control training).
- Provide personal care as required.
- Safety & Documentation:
- Carry out risk assessments to safeguard residents.
- Fluid note-taking (oral, written, and computerised records using Together’s systems) with clarity for service users.
- Write concise, accurate reports (training provided).
- Professionalism & Continuing Learning:
- Commit to mandatory training, developing skills in best practices for Recovery.
- Uphold the Together policy on lone working.
- Maintain professional boundaries at all times.

Requirements
Essential
- Experience (paid/voluntary/life experience) in supporting vulnerable individuals.
- GCSE at Grade C/4 or Level 2 English, or recognised equivalent (required for reports/record-keeping).
- Basic competence with email and word processing (e.g., Microsoft Office).
- Non-judgmental empathy with the ability to create trusting environments.
- Willingness to collaborate with service users while setting and upholding boundaries.
- Ability to facilitate safe, engaged生活 environments for service users.
- Capacity to assist with domestic tasks (cooking, cleaning, laundry).
- Problem-solving proficiency for areas like benefits systems, education, and relationships.
- Commitment to training and peer learning.
- Availability to work on a 24/7 rota, including sleep-ins, including seasonal/varying shifts.
- Basic transport access or mobility to access community resources.
- Enhanced DBS clearance upon successful hiring.

- Personal lived experience of mental distress or recovery.
- NVQ Level 2 qualification in Health & Social Care or equivalent.
Logistical Requirements
- DBS check (conditions of employment).
- Minimum age 18+.
- Ability to travel as part of the role.
