Are you an experienced Care Assistant or Support Worker?
We are currently recruiting for a full time Support Worker to join our team in the Drumoyne/Govan area of Glasgow where we support 6 gentlemen.
Experience of working in the social care or healthcare sector is preferred in this role, as the people we support have a variety of healthcare and mobility needs. Due to the nature of the activities a manual UK driving licence (1 year minimum) is essential.
The people we support have faced a lot of challenges in the past because of their learning disabilities and physical disabilities but this hasn’t stopped them from enjoying life! They enjoy lots of activities, including going out for walks, catching up with friends, listening to music, aromatherapy and keeping in touch with their families. They have a large shared garden with their bungalow in a quiet cul de sac, which they love to use in the summer for events. However, they’re always up for trying new things, so are looking for inventive people who are up for the challenge.
Our support team are very diverse and work well together to ensure the people we support are happy and safe in their own homes. Physically the role can be demanding. There is also the expectation of being able to administer medication, however full training will be provided. This is a medically complex service so you will need to be able to communicate with health professionals and have previous support work experience.
Our team provide support 24 hours a day, so we are looking for some flexibility to work a variety of day shifts -37.5 hours per week (3 x 12.5hours) days including weekends and possibility of occasional nights.
We know it takes a special person to work in social care and we recognise that not everyone that would be perfect for the role, will have professional experience. This is why we're really passionate about recruiting to individuals’ values and we recruit people from all walks of life; From people with vast experience in a support worker or care assistant role, from people with lived experiences who may have friends or relatives with disabilities or have looked after older relatives, to people with no experience at all.
