Support Worker – Key Role in Elgin (37-hour or 25-hour post)
About the Role
A Support Worker opportunity has arisen within a thriving, multi-award-winning Charity located in Elgin.
You’ll work with 19 individuals (including 2 at a nearby bungalow) who live in a supportive accommodation setting. 17 residents in total operate from Elgin, spanning 12 bedsits and a 3-bedroom bungalow.
Our service aims to improve each person’s quality of life by supporting their goals and valuing their independence. Individualised approaches are key—we help overcome barriers and foster environments where everyone can thrive.
This isn’t traditional supporting. These individuals like to get involved! From karaoke to BBQs, cooking to dates trips, their lives are as active and full as they’d like them to be.
Each person has unique needs—including varying levels of:
- Learning disabilities
- Mental health challenges
- Physical disabilities
Some may have past anxieties or trauma, but our aim is to build trust by offering warmth, patience, and professional support when they’re ready.
This role is a mixture of home support for one individual and daytime shifts in the main residential building, working alongside other team members.
Typical Support & Residential Tasks
- Providing personalised, person-centred support across various services.
- Assisting with meals, mobility, daily routines, and Holtims (self-care, activities).
- Facilitating recreational activities (social events, outings, group workshops).
- Adapting to individual needs—from overcoming trauma to maintaining personal safety.
- Ensuring respectful, fun but structured engagement for each person.

Key Principles:

Flexible & Reliable – Shifts range across (but not limited to):
- 11am–7pm, 1pm–9pm
- 12pm–4pm, 8am–3pm We need trustworthy, punctual staff who can securely fit within these patterns.

Ongoing Development – You’ll receive comprehensive onboarding and funding for professional qualifications (e.g., an SVQ).

Your Experience & Skills
Essential
- Ability to demonstrate honesty and reliability—this fosters trust.
- Effective communication skills to connect with a diverse group.
- Interest in developing tailored care plans with the end goal of empowerment.
- Confidence in assessing emotional needs and safely handling challenging behaviours.
- Good physis personal well-being—this is not an easy but rewarding role.
- Ability to work flexibly and follow a structured shift pattern.
