NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC)

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Urology team within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde as a Band 4 Single Point of Contact (SPOC) role within our Prostate Cancer Team.

The postholder will provide consistent communication and support to patients from the point of referral, through diagnosis or exclusion of cancer, and throughout their treatment journey. By acting as a dedicated point of contact, the Cancer Navigator will help ensure that patients have access to timely information, practical support, and guidance, keeping them at the heart of all decisions and actions relating to their care.

This is a key role within a dynamic and progressive service, supporting the implementation of a nurse-led prostate cancer pathway across the North and Clyde sector. The role will also contribute to future cross sector developments and improvement programmes in prostate cancer care across Urology services within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in a hospital or similar healthcare setting. Experience within a cancer care environment would be advantageous. They will demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with strong IT literacy, including experience of data capture and complex networked systems. The postholder will have strong organisational skills, a high level of attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise workload effectively. They will be able to remain calm under pressure and respond flexibly to changing priorities. In return, we offer a supportive and forward thinking working environment, ongoing training and development opportunities, and the chance to make a meaningful difference to the lives of our patients and their families.

The interview for this vacancy will take place on the 30th July.

If you are ready for the next step in your career and would like to be part of a specialist team making a real difference, we would love to hear from you. For more information or to arrange an informal visit, please contact Suzi Madden, Lead Nurse for Urology, on 0141 211 8406.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
