Support Worker

Support Worker – Dorset Outreach Team (1:1 Community-Based Support)

Are you ready to make a real difference in someone’s life?

We’re looking for a caring and reliable Support Worker to join our Dorset Outreach team, supporting a young adult living just outside Dorchester. You’ll be providing 1:1 community-based support, helping them:

  • Take part in meaningful activities
  • Stay active
  • Build confidence

This is a fun and rewarding role, where a strong trusting relationship with the person you support is key.


About the Person You’ll Be Supporting

They are a sociable, friendly young adult in their early twenties, who thrives on:

  • Structure and routine
  • Humor and connection
  • Outdoor activities, gardening, music, festivals, swimming, and trying new foods
  • Volunteering and community involvement

Their biggest desires are to: ✔ Spend time outside in nature ✔ Enjoy things they love with integrity and fun ✔ Build independence with safe, supportive accompaniment

They respond best to: 🔹 Upbeat but calm support workers 🔹 Patient, observant, and friendly individuals 🔹 Consistency in daily support relationships to feel safe


Where & When You’ll Be Working

📍 Location: Dorchester and surrounding areas, Dorset

📅 Shift Pattern:

  • Monday to Friday
  • 09:00 – 15:00 daily (5-hour shifts)

🚗 Key Transportation Requirement:

  • Essential: Must have access to your own car (since this is a pure 1:1 community-based support role with no personal care needed)
  • Fulfilment of personal care may occasionally be required, depending on individual needs.

Role-Specific Skills

  • Ability to follow structured care plans ink details
  • No prior learning disability support experience? No problem! Full training provided

Transport Requirements

  • (Minimum requirement for day shifts): Driving licence – full & clear (desirable but not essential)
  • Personal access to own vehicle (essentially mandatory for this role)

What Your Role Will Entail

Daily Care & Support

  • Personal care – dressing, bathing & tasks requiring assistance
  • Meal preparation, serving & first-watching care (nutritive meals aligning with dietary needs)
  • Ongoing community accompaniment (podcasts, appointments, volunteering & leisure activities)

Structural & Professional Duties

  • Providing positive engagement, reassurance & routine structure
  • Actively monitoring safety & wellbeing throughout the day
  • Maintaining accurate written logs & clear communication with the team
