Support Workers

Support Worker – Specialist Care for Jamie (Born 2006)

Location: Ipswich, IP3

Position: Carer/Support Worker/Client Recruitment (Minimum 10 hours per week, Saturday/Sunday rota with opportunity for additional shifts)


Remuneration

£16.54 – £18.74 per hour (hourly pay scales vary byShift)

  • £16.75/hr (Mon–Fri, 7:00am–10:00pm)
  • £18.74/hr (Weekends, 7:00am–10:00pm)

NOTE: Role includes sleep-in shifts, with adjusted payment rates (see details above).

About the Role

Jamie, born in 2006, is an engaging individual with moderate Cerebral Palsy and regularly seizures. He loves:

  • Socialising (players/chatting)
  • Kicking footballs, watching movies, clubs, swimming

Key Support Needs: ✅ 2:1 assistance in daily living & personal care ✅ Wheelchair mobility (tires quickly; may use hand/shoulder support) ✅ Makaton signage + iPad for verbal communication ✅ Physical & emotional support for challenging behaviour (linked to stress/anxiety)

⚕️ Essential Experience:

  • Working with epilepsy, Cerebral Palsy, and challenging behaviour.
  • Overnight supervision (paid accordingly).

✅ Daily Tasks:

  • Assistance with crafting enrichment (preferences + social inclusion).
  • Cooperation with Jamie’s family and current support team.

✅ Specialists Requirements:

  • Mantain confidentiality + professionalism.
  • Fulfill duty of safeguarding (eligible for uplift compensation)!

About You — The Ideal Candidate

✅ Essential Traits:

  • Ability to handle specialist equipment (bend, kneel, wheel-chain support).
  • Flexibility: drive wheelchairs, lift, and accompany Jamie in social outings.
  • 1yr+ experience in disability care (structured training provided).

✅ Attributive Skills: �цата Working ability within home/outdoor environments (swimming visits, pottery clubs). 📝 Positive attitude and empathy for Jamie’s social and medical needs. 🗣️ Creativity to engage with nonverbal communication aids (Makaton, iPad). 💼 Team player adhering to standards of care. 🩺 Vision for life-enrichment—focused on Jamie’s passions.

Requirements

🚗 Transport Essential

  • Fully licensed driver (with **automatic vehicle use).
