Location: Ipswich
Position: Carer/Support Worker/Client Recruitment
Remuneration: £16.54 - £18.74 per hour, dependent on shift pattern.

About The Role

Location: Ipswich, IP3
Hours: Minimum 10 hours in line with the current rota on a Saturday or Sunday, with the opportunity to pick up extra shifts for absences of the current team.
Pay: £16.75 Monday to Friday (Days, 7.00 am to 10.00pm), £18.74 Weekends (Days, 7.00am to 10.00pm). Please note: The role may include sleep-in shifts, which are paid at a different rate from the daytime hourly rates quoted.

Job Summary
Jamie, born in 2006, has enthusiasm for life and loves attention! He is alert, very engaging and also likes to play and interact socially with others, especially kicking footballs. He enjoys going to the cinema, attending his clubs, and swimming.
Jamie has moderate Cerebral Palsy and epilepsy and requires reliable, caring, positive and pro-active special needs Support Workers to join his team to help him lead a fulfilling life and to be given the opportunity to undertake the activities he enjoys. He uses a wheelchair when out, as he tires very easily, he walks aided or will hold your hand or shoulder for support. Jamie benefits from having two people to support him, he has no risk awareness so does require support for physical activities. He has limited verbal communication and uses Makaton signs and facial expressions/gestures to help him be understood, he uses an iPad to aid his communication and make choices. Jamie can also present with challenging physical behaviour when feeling worried or anxious which requires support.
Main Duties And Responsibilities
- Experience with Epilepsy, Cerebral Palsy and challenging behaviour.
- 2:1 support with all aspects of daily living and personal care,
- Supervision throughout the day and some attention during the night.
- Contributing to Jamie’s ongoing development and leisure activities with a positive and upbeat attitude.
- Working alongside the family and current support team.
- Accompanying the family on holidays.

About You
It would be great to receive your application, for this rewarding role as a Support Worker if you have the following skills/behaviours:
- Must be able to work with specialist equipment (training will be provided). A Handling Management Plan is available and is designed to reduce the risk of handling injuries, but you may be required to bend, kneel, squat, push or pull.
- You will need to be able to meet the physical moving and handling needs of the client, such as getting on and off the floor with ease, lifting a manual wheelchair in and out of the car, pushing a wheelchair and be confident in accessing the community for social activities.
- Experience with working with Cerebral Palsy and epilepsy.
- Confident and comfortable working in Jamie’s own home and sensitive to the needs and wishes of him and his family.
- Can demonstrate commitment and passion for meeting Jamie's needs.
- Can demonstrate empathy and understanding in an appropriate and professional manner.
- A team player who understands the importance of feedback to qualified members of the team.
- Can develop productive and professional relationships with others.
- Actively creates an inclusive environment respecting diversity.
- Good organisational skills who can adhere to standards and quality requirements.
- Friendly, approachable with a proactive and encouraging approach.
- Punctual, patient, reliable and trustworthy.
- Can maintain an excellent level of confidentiality.
- Good verbal & written communication skills and IT literate.
- Able to think creatively and to use initiative.
- Willingness to work flexibly and cover shifts, sometimes at short notice.
- A full driving licence (endorsements to be disclosed).
- Non-smoker/Non-Vaper (due to Jamie having severe respiratory issues).

ILS Case Management is the UK's leading independent nationwide Case Management company.
When a person’s life has been changed by injury, we address the practicalities. We work with children and adults who have had moderate or catastrophic, complex injuries. We assess individual needs and are able to provide a comprehensive Case Management and Rehabilitation Service designed to maximise independence. Our Case Managers work closely with our Clients, and we carry out all the recruitment processes on behalf of our Clients; and will support you, from your initial telephone interview right through to arranging employer interviews, trial shifts and placement.
If you are successfully recruited, you will be employed directly by our client or their Deputy appointed by the Court of Protection. However, ILS will manage your day to day employment, providing you with the support you need to carry out your role. Working as a Carer or Support Worker for an ILS client means that you will have a dedicated Case Manager to oversee your client's care needs.
