Supported Internship Job Coach

Location: Bedford College Group, Chicksands Military Base

Salary/Benefits:

  • Salary: £24,522 - £26,754 (Pro-Rata) per annum DOE and qualifications
  • Annual leave: 27 days (Pro-Rata), plus bank holidays

Hours/Contract:

  • 37 hours per week | 52 weeks per year
  • Fixed-Term: 01/09/2026 – 28/02/2027 (Maternity Cover)

About the Role

We are seeking a Supported Internship Job Coach to join the Adult & Community Learning & ESOL department at the Bedford College Group.

As a Supported Internship Job Coach, your role includes:

  • Purpose & Outcomes

    • Supporting learners to overcome barriers to learning, particularly in assessments/assignments, enabling achievement across all levels and progression into employment or further opportunities.
  • Employer Engagement & Placements

    • Collaboration with employers to develop work placements, volunteering, and job opportunities, including job carving with health & safety compliance and ongoing placement support.
  • Learner Planning & Progression

    • Developing and maintaining individual learning and transition plans, vocational profiling, progress monitoring, and goal reviews linked to employment, education, and independence.
  • Learner Support & Skills Development

    • Assisting with applications, placements, and travel training; identifying skills gaps; and liaising with tutors to enhance employability and independence skills.

  • Collaboration & Professional Practice
    • Working closely with staff, employers, and external agencies while maintaining records and ensuring safeguarding, EDI, health & safety, and CPD responsibilities.

About You

  • Qualifications & Communication

    • Good general education with strong written and verbal skills for effective learner/stakeholder support.
  • Knowledge & Experience

    • Solid understanding of SEND with experience supporting young people in education, work placements, or care settings.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
  • Core Skills

    • Strong organisational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to multitask efficiently and support learner development.
  • Personal Attributes

    • Adaptable, patient, and proactive; able to use initiative, meet learner needs, and motivate others while promoting equal opportunities.
  • Additional Requirements

    • Flexible working approach, own transport, willingness to follow direction, and commitment to safeguarding.
    • Enhanced DBS clearance required.
