SURF Lifting Engineer

Job Description

As part of a major subsea development project, we are seeking an experienced SURF Lifting Engineer to manage and ensure the safe execution of lifting operations in offshore and subsea environments.

You will play a critical role in planning and supervising complex lifting activities involving subsea structures, offshore installation vessels, and heavy equipment, ensuring compliance with strict safety and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed lifting plans and method statements for offshore cranes, subsea lifting operations, winches, and specialized installation equipment.
  • Define and select appropriate lifting and rigging equipment (subsea-rated slings, shackles, spreader beams, lifting frames) considering load-out, splash zone, subsea deployment, and environmental constraints.
  • Coordinate and supervise offshore contractors, vessel operations, and heavy lift activities (installation vessels, barges, cranes).
  • Oversee rigging teams and deck crews during complex and critical offshore lifting operations.
  • Ensure proper execution of load-out, sea fastening, lifting, lowering, and subsea installation activities.
  • Conduct toolbox talks, lifting risk assessments, and safety briefings onboard vessels and offshore sites.
  • Promote a strong HSE culture, ensuring compliance with offshore safety regulations and project specifications.
  • Ensure personnel are trained, certified, and equipped to perform subsea lifting operations safely and efficiently.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
