Role Overview
We are currently looking for an Applications Scientist to join a pioneering biotech company based in Oxfordshire, dedicated to delivering innovative, sustainable solutions through advanced chemistry. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified scientist to contribute to the development of cutting-edge membrane coatings and separation technologies that promote a greener future. The role offers a chance to work within a dynamic, research-driven environment, collaborating with a talented team of scientists and commercial experts to translate scientific insights into market-ready solutions.
As an integral part of the R&D team, you will play a key role in supporting the expansion and refinement of the company’s core coating library, working on projects that span from laboratory research to product development and technology transfer.
Key Duties And Responsibilities
Your duties as the Applications Scientist will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:
- Support the research & development team by conducting practical lab-based work aligned with current and new product programmes, addressing customer needs and emerging market demands.
- Extend the company's core platform and intellectual property portfolio through innovative research and development activities.
- Conduct testing and analytical work on various substrates and material forms in fields such as membrane purification, separation, and surface modification.
- Evaluate experimental results to inform surface treatment development, apply knowledge for broader product applications, and assist in process optimisation.
- Prepare technical documentation, including process development reports, tech transfer documents, and standard operating procedures.
- As the Applications Scientist, you will collaborate across teams to plan and execute research projects focused on membrane separation technologies and related applications.

Role Requirements
To be successful in your application to this exciting role as the Applications Scientist we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:
- A Degree or higher level in Chemistry (e.g., Chemical Science, Materials Chemistry, or related field) along with proven industry experience of at least 3–5 years.
- Professional experience in polymeric membrane development, membrane separation processes, or related lab-based chemical research.
- Demonstrable problem-solving skills, strong chemical characterisation knowledge, and the ability to deliver innovative practical solutions.
- Good documentation, reporting, and communication skills to support product development and technical transfer activities.
