The Apprentice SMT Technician will develop and gain the skills and knowledge required to support the needs of a world-class electronics manufacturing facility. On a day-to-day basis, you will be fully supervised whilst learning to operate SMT machines, set up feeders ready for use, and inspect PCB’s.
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working, learning on the job by getting hands-on experience.
Requirements
- GCSE in English (grade 4)
- GCSE in Mathematics (grade 4)
- GCSE in Science (grade 4)
- Ability to share and reflect any other relevant qualifications and industry experience, as the apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
Responsibilities
- Observe, learn, and understand a wide range of engineering skills and processes under the guidance of skilled technical staff.
- Demonstrate learned skills and processes as the training period progresses by working independently or as part of a team and undertaking tasks as instructed.
- Learn and understand the importance of Health and Safety within the workplace and adhere to all policy and legislative requirements.
- Learn how to maintain workshop equipment and keep it in good working order.
- Line Setup: Loading parts into feeders.
- Line Run: Changing feeders as required.
- Line Disassembly: Unloading unused parts from the machine for return to stores.
- Regular maintenance as required and advised by senior members of the team.
