Position Overview

We are seeking a reliable and motivated Surfacing Operative to join our surfacing team.

As part of a skilled crew, your role will involve:

  • Supporting the delivery of road surfacing and highway maintenance projects
  • Working outdoors, on-site, and as part of a team to ensure high-quality and safe asphalt delivery
  • Preparing for nightshift work as required

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with laying, raking, levelling, and finishing of asphalt materials
  • Support operation of surfacing plant, tools, and equipment
  • Perform site preparation and general labouring duties pre-, during, and post-surfacing
  • Collaborate closely with the Foreperson and surfacing squad to deliver projects efficiently and safely
  • Conduct routine checks and basic maintenance of plant, equipment, and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
  • Adhere strictly to site instructions, safe systems of work, and company procedures
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment
  • Report safety concerns, incidents, defects, or near misses promptly
  • Work flexibly across sites and shifts, including night work

Essential

  • CSCS card
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Previous experience in surfacing, construction, highways, or related environments
