Surrey Peer Programme Manager
Senior Peer Support and Strategy Manager (Surrey)
The Hepatitis C Trust (HCT) is the UK’s independent patient-led charity specialising in hepatitis C—a disease that could virtually be eliminated by 2030 thanks to cutting-edge treatments.
Nowfully committed to eradicating hepatitis C in England, we are seeking a leadership role with a passionate, driven individual to spearhead our expanding peer support programmes in Surrey.
As a key member of our Southern Regional team, you will coach, guide, and oversee a dedicated staff team as well as developing and managing our network of trusted peer support projects. Successful candidates will demonstrate a knack for key relationships, sharp management, and empathic communication—all essential in navigating the complexities of a modern NHS while working proactively with disadvantaged communities.
About the Role
The ideal candidate has:
- Strong organisational skills, capable of supervising operational and strategic functions across a growing programme portfolio
- Experience managing peer-driven initiatives, particularly in health-related or social support settings
- A holistic understanding of vulnerable groups, lived experience, and how peer support drives real change
- Bespoke knowledge of NHS structures in Surrey, particularly engagement with the Surrey ODN and partner agencies

Your Responsibilities
Your role will be at the heart of advancing our elimination mission. Core duties include:
- Staff supervision: Provide leadership to existing peer support staff, fostering professional growth and project excellence in Surrey’s taboo health space
- Programme development: Oversee existing and future peer initiatives, ensuring alignment with Hepatitis C elimination targets
- Stakeholder coordination: Regular liaison with health partners, the NHS Surrey ODN, drug and alcohol services, outreach programs, and other support networks
- Operational management: Address day-to-day challenges and refine scalable solutions for working with marginalised groups
- Strategic alignment: Advocate for peer-led policies and advocate for systemic change, building consistency across the UK geographic network

Skills and Selection Criteria
- Proven track record in managing peer support or disadvantaged engagement—preferably within health, equality, or substance-use contexts
- Empathy with lived experience: Understanding how community partnerships can surface grievances and transform policy
- Flexible expertise: Relationships—as-natural as you are with Surrey’s ODN, GP networks, No Wrong Doors practices, and third-sector organisations
- High standards of reporting, administration, and project delivery—ensuring full affordability within the voluntary sector’s resource realities
