Hawksworth UK are now hiring for a Permanent ‘Surveillance Officer/ Analyst’ for an Investment Bank based in London. This is a Surveillance Officer role who needs to have good Python technical skills. As that mix is quite unusual, we will look at good Python skills and am interest/ willingness to learn the Trade Surveillance / Compliance side.
Surveillance Officer/ Analyst (Surveillance of Transactions in Global Markets, Investment Banking and Treasury). London – Near Liverpool St £45k - £60k base + Bonus + Package Hybrid working – x3 days in the office per week
Job Description: You will join a Compliance Surveillance Team and you will help monitor transactions across Global Markets, Global Investment Banking and Treasury. You will work within the Surveillance area to implement and perform monitoring and testing of trade alerts across all business lines. You will give input for the design of new monitoring strategies. This opportunity is unique in terms it is Compliance / Trade Surveillance but also an Analyst where we need someone very technical with Python. So as long as you have strong Python skills and ideally some Compliance or an interest in compliance then this could be for you.

Essential skills & experience: Degree education or equivalent Python skills Analytical Compliance experience or a keen interest in Compliance. Ability to review and analyse data then present results statistically in MI format. Proven experience of delivering high quality compliance MI reports for senior management. Proven experience of executing compliance reports and investigations or similar regulatory reports Understanding of Market Abuse Regulation and the associated Alert Scenarios, but not limited to: Layering/Spoofing, Front Running, Wash Trades, Ramping, Cross Product/Venue Manipulation, Manipulation of Benchmarks. Trade Surveillance Monitoring experience – Desirable Prior experience in e-Communications surveillance, trade surveillance, market abuse, market conduct or compliance within an investment bank - Desirable. Understanding of EU and UK Compliance requirements, regulatory and exchange requirements - in particular with respect to Market Abuse and Conduct Risk.- Desirable.
