Surveillance Supervisor
Vacancy: Surveillance Supervisor – Full Time
The successful candidate for the Surveillance Supervisor role will manage and support Surveillance Operators to ensure consistency in performance and effective delivery of services. The role supports Force, LCU and Community Safety objectives by detecting, recording, reporting and reducing crime, disorder, and the fear of crime.
You will attend and contribute to:
- Daily briefings
- Fortnightly TTCG (Tactical Traffic Control Group) meetings
- Major event planning
- Weekly fault and reliability system meetings
- Any other relevant meetings for the post holder’s position
You will collaborate with:
- Senior LCU (Local Command Unit) management
- Police officers and police staff
- Partners and CCTV maintenance contractors to ensure effective management and delivery of CCTV Surveillance Operations

Core Responsibilities

Ensure staff compliance with:
- Relevant legislation
- Codes of Practice governing CCTV operations
- Data security and integrity of CCTV systems

Conduct evidential spot checks and provide ongoing training

Serve as the Single Point of Contact for:
- Police officers and police staff
- Members of the public

Demonstrate understanding of CCTV and control room standards, including:
- BS/7958
- BS/EN/62676

Maintain continuity of recorded materials with appropriate records

Comply with:
- Current legislation (Data Protection Act)
- Computer Misuse Act
- MOPI (Management of Police Investigations)
- GDPR 2018
- CCTV Codes of Practice
Eligibility Criteria
Thames Valley Police (TVP) employees currently in their post for less than 12 months must seek approval from their line manager to be eligible to apply.
