Are you an experienced utility survey professional ready to lead, mentor and develop a high-performing team across some of the UK’s most challenging utility environments? We are looking for a Survey Manager to:

  • Support quality assurance
  • Strengthen technical capability
  • Improve processes
  • Help deliver exceptional service across the business

This is a key management role responsible for:

  • Driving high performance of the survey team
  • Overseeing quality assurance
  • Supporting staff development and training
  • Delivering specialist surveys
  • Responding to technical client queries
  • Shaping the future direction of the company by introducing new technologies, methodologies, and processes

Responsibilities

In this position, your key responsibilities will be:

  • Make balanced decisions considering safety, integrity, quality, improvement, and cost
  • Improve efficiency and capability of survey staff through:
    • Training
    • Mentoring
    • Continual assessment
    • Constructive feedback
  • Develop survey methodologies, systems, and processes to maximise efficiency while maintaining a strong commitment to quality
  • Provide clear data and insight on:
    • Progression of the survey team
    • Performance
    • Development needs
  • Allocate survey projects and support delivery planning
  • Respond to technical questions from clients and colleagues
  • Represent the business professionally in:
    • Client interactions
    • Site interactions
    • Internal interactions
  • Undertake specialist projects leveraging your technical experience and industry knowledge

Requirements

We’re looking for someone who is technically strong, dependable, proactive, and highly professional. To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

  • Significant experience (six years or more) delivering:
    • Complex utility survey projects on time and in full
    • Both site work and office-based processing
    • Experience with QCF Level 5 or equivalent is desirable
  • A proven track record of training, mentoring, assessing, and developing survey team members
  • Excellent knowledge of core utility surveying equipment, including:
    • EML (Electromagnetic Location)
    • GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar)
    • Total stations
    • GNSS positioning equipment
  • Strong CAD capability, ideally experience with BricsCAD
  • Proficiency in GPR processing software, preferably IDS IQMaps
  • Strong capability with survey processing software such as N4ce
  • Full understanding of PAS 128 and practical application thereof
  • Experience managing client interactions, including resolving challenges and understanding:
    • Commercial implications of technical decisions
  • Excellent health and safety awareness, with ability to promote safe working practices across the team
  • Strong skills in:
    • Report writing
    • Technical review
    • Assessment
