Description
Harmony is on a mission to be the best life safety partner to work with and for. Rated an ‘Outstanding Employer’ by Best Companies in 2025, we are only getting bigger and stronger — and we’re looking for A-players to help us get there.
We are passionate about making a difference and obsessed with quality. Our goal is to build a world where every resident can sleep safely at night, knowing their home is 100% safe.
We are now hiring a Surveyor to join our Pre-Construction team in the Edinburgh pod, reporting to the Pre-Construction Manager. You will carry out fire door, fire stopping and fire compartmentation surveys across residential, social housing and commercial buildings, giving our project teams the accurate information they need to price, plan and deliver remedial works that make people safer.
This is more than a survey role. It is about bringing the right energy, accountability and resilience to our mission of saving lives through fire and height safety — and being the eyes on the ground that the rest of the business relies on.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out fire door, fire stopping and fire compartmentation surveys to enable project teams to accurately price and plan remedial works. Survey in line with BM TRADA, Harmony methodology and Scroll procedures, doing it right first time, every time. Accurately record all activity in SimPRO — capturing photos, updating asset records and keeping data clean for the project team to work from. Adapt surveying approach to suit client requirements without compromising on standards. Provide informal guidance to clients’ fire officers and maintenance surveyors so opportunities to improve fire safety are spotted, and basic fire stopping and fire door principles are understood. Audit completed remedial works (when requested) to confirm the original scope has been delivered and that all works meet manufacturer and accreditation body guidance. Work collaboratively with Pre-Construction Assistants to maximise the number and quality of surveys completed in a day. Maximise resident access using best-practice Harmony engagement methods. Complete all required H&S documentation, RAMS and permits to work. Identify and flag risks to the business at every stage of the pre-construction phase. Attend team meetings set by the Pre-Construction Manager and visit the office at least once a week. Develop and promote the Harmony Methodology, supporting continuous improvement across the pre-construction function.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
