Surveyor – Pre-Construction (Fire Door & Compartmentation) (Edinburgh)

Department: Building Fabric – Pre-construction

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: Edinburgh

Reporting To: Noel Morren

Compensation: £30,000 per year

Harmony is on a mission to be the best life safety partner to work with and for. Rated an ‘Outstanding Employer’ by Best Companies in 2025, we are only getting bigger and stronger—and we’re searching for top performers to help us get there.

We’re driven by purpose, obsessed with quality, and determined to build a world where every resident can sleep safely at night, knowing their home is 100% protected. We are now looking for a Surveyor to join our Pre-Construction team in Edinburgh, reporting to the Pre-Construction Manager.

This is more than a survey role. It’s about bringing energy, accountability and resilience to our mission of saving lives through fire and height safety. You’ll be the eyes on the ground, ensuring our projects are priced right, executed properly, and most importantly—making people safer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct fire door, fire stopping, and fire compartmentation surveys to enable project teams to price and plan accurate remedial works.
  • Adhere to BM TRADA, Harmony Methodology and Scroll procedures, ensuring first-time excellence in every survey.
  • Accurately record all activity in SimPRO, including photos, updating asset records, and maintaining clean data for the project team.
  • Adapt surveying approaches to fit client requirements without compromising standards or safety.
  • Provide informal guidance to clients’ fire officers and maintenance staff on basic fire safety principles and opportunities for improvement.
  • Audit completed remedial works (when requested) to confirm compliance with manufacturer and accreditation standards.
  • Collaborate with Pre-Construction Assistants to maximise survey efficiency and quality per day.
  • Maximise safe resident access using Harmony’s best-practice engagement methods.
  • Complete all required H&S documentation, RAMS, and permits to work.
  • Identify and mitigate risks at every stage of pre-construction.
  • Attend team meetings and visit the office at least once per week.
  • Develop and promote Harmony Methodology, fostering continuous improvement across pre-construction.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
