About The Role
Shape the Future of North Norfolk's Property Portfolio
North Norfolk is a distinctive district with a varied property estate that plays a vital role in supporting local communities, businesses and economic growth.
As part of our Corporate Plan and Asset Strategy, we are focused on managing our assets effectively, generating sustainable income, and ensuring our property portfolio continues to support the Council's priorities and the wider district.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and commercially-minded Estates Surveyor to join our in-house property team and play a key role in managing and developing our diverse property portfolio.
This position will play a key role in managing and enhancing a diverse commercial and operational property portfolio, while helping to shape future investment and asset management decisions.
You will provide wide-ranging professional property and valuation advice to the Council, undertaking day to day manage of a diverse portfolio.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Managing landlord and tenant matters, including lease renewals, rent reviews and property transactions
- Negotiating acquisitions, disposals, leases, licences and concessions
- Identifying opportunities to grow income and enhance asset performance
- Managing service charges and tenant relationships
- Supporting strategic asset management initiatives
- Providing professional property advice across the Council
- Contributing to investment, regeneration and commercial projects
About You
We're looking for a proactive, motivated surveyor who combines strong technical expertise with a commercial mindset and excellent relationship-building skills.
The Successful Candidate Will Have
- Experience of estate management and landlord and tenant matters across a varied land and property portfolio
- Hold a degree in a property-related discipline and be a Chartered Surveyor with RICS membership.
- Possess strong negotiation, communication and relationship management skills.
- Be commercially aware, with the ability to identify opportunities to maximise income and asset performance
- Have experience of acquisitions, disposals and service charge management.
- Be organised and able to manage a varied workload, prioritising effectively to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrate sound professional judgement, problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently
- Be comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders, including tenants, community groups, elected Members and external partners.
- Bring a flexible and proactive approach and be able to contribute positively during a period of local government reorganisation
