About the Role
Southwark Council is seeking an experienced, professionally qualified Surveyor to join their Property team.
This position will contribute to delivering a professional, high-quality, and cost-effective local authority property and regeneration service, placing a focus on estate management across the commercial property portfolio. Responsibilities include handling landlord and tenant casework, lettings, and wider property matters to advance the council’s strategic and operational goals.

Key Responsibilities

Estate Management Casework
- Oversee the effective management of the commercial property portfolio, covering landlord and tenant relations, lease renewals, rent reviews, and lettings.
- Handle commercially significant and sensitive property matters requiring strong professional judgement.

Asset Management & Regeneration Support
- Contribute to asset management and regeneration projects, adhering to corporate, statutory, regulatory, and professional standards.
- Support transactions with significant long-term financial, operational, and community impact.

Professional Qualifications
- Be a Fellow or Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

- Extensive exposure to managing commercial property portfolios.

- In-depth understanding of local government property law, legislation, procurement, and asset management rules.
