About the Role

As a Survival Equipment Technician, you’ll play a vital role in supporting fast jet pilot training by ensuring critical survival and aircrew equipment is maintained to the highest standards. Your work will directly impact flight safety, operational readiness, and mission success.
This is a hands-on, highly responsible role where you’ll develop specialist skills within a collaborative team, while contributing to a function that is essential to aviation safety and national defence.
Responsibilities
Day-to-day, you will be:
- Carrying out preventative and corrective maintenance on aircrew and survival equipment
- Ensuring all work meets regulatory, safety, and quality standards
- Inspecting, testing, and certifying equipment for operational use
- Supporting continuous improvement in team performance and compliance
- Working collaboratively to deliver outputs safely and on time

Requirements
Essential Experience
- Previous experience in survival or life support equipment maintenance
- Working effectively within a small, close-knit team
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- High levels of personal responsibility and adaptability
- Knowledge of military engineering standards or equivalent procedures
Qualifications
- Formal engineering training (RAF Trade Group 13 or equivalent)
- Trade authorisations such as QSEAC or AVMEDSE
- Experience in aircrew equipment fitting or specialist systems (desirable)
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
