Allen & York are delighted to partner with Future Biogas to recruit a Sustainability Certification Lead to join their team during an exciting period of growth.
Future Biogas specialise in anaerobic digestion, developing, owning, and operating facilities that help major corporates decarbonise through renewable gas and carbon sequestration solutions. Backed by 3i Group and with strategic partnerships (including AstraZeneca), the company shapes the future of sustainable energy infrastructure in the UK.
This is a commercially-focused sustainability leadership role offering:
- Management and development of key sustainability certification and MRV (Monitoring, Reporting, Verification) processes.
- Support for major commercial agreements and revenue opportunities.
- Collaboration across sustainability, business development, finance, operations, and compliance teams.
- Ownership of sustainability frameworks while aligning with net-zero and growth strategy.
- Line management for a small sustainability team.
- Key interface with regulators, certification bodies, auditors, consultants, and corporate stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead sustainability certification and accreditation activities, including:
- ISCC
- REGO
- RGGO
- DENA
- Achilles
- Proof of Sustainability
- Support sustainability strategy, governance, reporting, and emissions reduction targets.
- Provide technical oversight on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and GHG emissions calculations.
- Support commercial agreements and market opportunities through robust MRV processes.
- Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders (regulators, auditors, certification bodies).
- Identify and mitigate commercial risks related to sustainability.
- Line manage a Sustainability Coordinator and Sustainability Assistant.
Requirements (About You)
We seek commercially-minded sustainability professionals with:
- Experience in renewable energy, anaerobic digestion, carbon markets, or related sectors.
- Strong understanding of sustainability certification and carbon accounting methodologies.
- Knowledge of Guarantees of Origin (GoOs) and related environmental certificate markets.
- Experience in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and emissions modelling.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Previous experience in team leadership or mentorship.
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
