I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Your Responsibilities:
- Be the first point of contact for our clients, and the person they turn to when it matters.
- Get to the heart of what each client needs and ensure that is delivered and adds real value.
- Lead and chair client meetings and guide clients through project delivery.
- Take ownership of projects, from start to finish; coordinate the internal team and make sure the work is always delivered on time and to a consistent high standard.
- Spot problems early and deal with them before they become delays.
- Grow existing relationships and support business growth by showing clients what we do and the value it creates.
Personal attributes and skills:
- You earn client trust quickly and become the person they rely on.
- Highly organised, and comfortable juggling several clients and projects at once.
- A commercial instinct for what a client is after, and how to shape the work around it.
- Confident communicating and presenting to clients at every level, from site manager to board.
- Ambitious and driven, but grounded and down to earth, i.e. the kind of person clients and colleagues want to work with.
- A background in construction, property or the built environment, and a working awareness of BREEAM. Hands-on assessment experience is a bonus, not a must-have.
