About The Role
We’re seeking a Sustainability Consultant or Senior Sustainability Consultant to join our growing Whole Life Carbon expertise, based in Bristol, Plymouth, or Exeter.
As a leader in sustainable design and construction, we lead industry standards through our dynamic, innovative culture and multidisciplinary consultancy — covering BREEAM, WELL, circular economy strategies, energy performance, and whole-life carbon modelling.
Key Responsibilities
Whole Life Carbon Focus
- Deliver whole life carbon assessments using our in-house tools, EVCA or OneClick LCA software for diverse projects.
- Identify and reduce whole life carbon emissions in design-stage BREEAM Mat 01 evaluations.
- Lead design team/client workshops to:
- Set carbon reduction targets and agree mitigation
- Embed circular economy principles (material reuse, recycling)
- Conduct construction-stage monitoring and carbon reporting
- Engage with local authorities on sustainability planning (design reviews, permitting).

Cross-Specialty Sustainability (20% involvement)
- Eyes on BREEAM v6/7, WELL, SQA assessments from concept to post-construction.
- Perform thermal and energy modelling (ApacheHVAC, UK Building Regulations Part L, overheating analysis).
- Develop energy resilience & sustainability strategies for clients.
- Analyse operational carbon, ESG, and circularity using software like SKAI’s Circular Portal or EPD databases.
Industry Leadership & Training
- Update UK sustainability standards (LETI, RICS WLCS, NCC, construction-knowledge Exchange).
- Lead hands-on research & guidance to shape industry benchmarks.
- Mentor and improve skills of junior consultants.
Project Opportunities
- Lead deliverables for small-to-medium scale whole life carbon or broader sustainability projects.

About You
Essential Competencies
- Proven capability in:
- Whole life carbon (embodied and operational) assessments (via 1e50 (OneClick), Heseltine, EVCA).
- UK guidance compliance: RICS WLCS v1/2, Faraday UKNZC (NZCSB), UKGBC, IStructE, Circular Economy Principles (CIRIA PQ213!/ISO 15686).
- Carbon emissions strategies and decarbonisation pathways;
- BSc/MSc with engineering/science degree + relevant sector experience.

Advantageous
First-hand experience with:
- **Energy models (*PhI, Passivhaus, Part L compliant designs).
- Planning system alignment (BIDPs, ODPs).
- Collaborative LCA and construction-phase carbon tracking.
- Public-sector reporting (NHS, schools, libraries).
- Net-zero carbonštandards (including ICMLE REM89/WLCM eligibility).
Key Traits
