Sustainability Engineer / Consultant – London or Bicester

We are looking to recruit a Sustainability Engineer / Consultant to join our teams in London or Bicester.
Role Responsibilities
- Championing sustainability across projects and operations
- Conducting BREEAM and LEED assessments
- Supporting and leading sustainability appointments under the RIBA Green Overlay framework, with a focus on LEED, BREEAM, and other certification schemes
- Reviewing evidence, data analysis, preparing reports, meeting minutes, technical documentation, presentations, and action plans
- Collaborating with other offices and efficiently delegating task distribution
- Performing independent research to support the sustainability team and broader business needs
- Assisting with project bids, tender preparations, and coordinating with wider design teams
- Ensuring flexibility to meet deadlines, working across the Sustainability, Safety & Procureurement (SS&CC) team as required
- Capturing, analysing, and reporting on ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) data

Essential Criteria
- Proven working knowledge of LEED BD+C and BREEAM assessment schemes
- Degree-level qualification or equivalent in engineering, environmental studies, or a related discipline
- 12–18 months’ experience delivering sustainability projects, including collaboration with external stakeholders
- Understanding of the UK construction process and its associated documentation
- Knowledge of the UK design and planning process, with any experience interfacing with planners being particularly advantageous
- General understanding of building services design and industry engineering terminology
- Ability to produce high-quality, accurate reports while working to realistic deadlines and budgets
- Strong organisational skills to prioritise workloads and meet operational demands
- Flexibility to travel for site inspections and client meetings as required
Desirable Criteria
- LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) or BREEAM Accredited Professional (BREEAM AP) status
- Working knowledge or qualification progress in any of the following: WELL, Fitwel, NABERS, ISO 50001/14001, LCEA Level 5, EPC, TRUE, DNGB, IES, PAS 2080, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), etc.
- Experience in consulting or construction, with a background in sustainability support
- Familiarity with QA systems and best practices for ISO 9001, ISO 14001, or ISO 50001 compliance
- Ability to deliver clear presentations – both in person and via video conferencing tools
- Proficiency in using Tracker Plus (or similar project collaboration tools like 4Projects, ACC)
- Self-discipline, attention to detail, and an ethical approach to problem-solving
- Understanding of global consultancy operations and how to integrate sustainability principles into project scoping
